Journey to Florida

Georgia

After being up bright (it was still dark out) and early, thanks to Charlie and Milo, I fell asleep in the car shortly after we got back on the highway to Florida. At one point, I woke up and we were stopped at a rest area in Georgia.

We stopped here to clean up another mess from Murray. He had once again gone to the bathroom in his carrier. He had shown no interest in using the litter box before we got on the road.

Charlie

Charlie enjoyed all the stops since he got to get out and walk around a little bit. He was likely the only one actually enjoying the travel part of this trip. Snoozing on a lap in between stops to walk around outside, sounds pretty good for a dog. He also got to pretend to drive!

Buc-ee’s

As we were getting close to Florida, my sister mentioned in a group chat that we should try to stop at a Buc-ee’s gas station if we came across one. I had heard of it before from TikTok, so I figured we could check one out if we saw one.

IT’S HUGE.

Buc-ee’s is more than just a gas station, it’s basically a grocery store and department store. They were cutting fresh meat in the middle of the store. There were granite slabs, walls of jerky and nuts, clothes, grills, bachelorette party supplies, tons of Buc-ee’s merchandise, and more.

They also claim to be world famous for their clean restrooms. After using the restroom, I can’t deny that it was one of the more pleasant public restroom experience I’ve had. So, kudos to Buc-ee’s on that.

Florida

Shortly after our stop at Buc-ee’s, we made it to Florida. We just had a few more hours to go to get to our rented townhouse near Orlando. I drove for a little while so that Jeff could rest his eyes for a bit. He was a real trooper that day. He did most of the driving and he wasn’t too ornery about it.

Stressed

That’s probably because I had to talk with him about his behavior on Monday. We were both stressed out and crabby with each other.

I tend to do dumb, ditsy things (dropping/spilling things) when I am stressed. Jeff usually finds these things humorous when he isn’t stressed. He wasn’t finding them very cute on Monday. This made me even more stressed, which led to me doing more dumb things.

After I talked to him about it and said he needed to be a little more considerate since we were both stressed, he apologized.

It’s not often that Jeff and I fight/argue. When we do, it’s usually because one or both of us is stressed. Packing, moving houses, and getting ready for our extended Florida trip in such a short period of time was stressful.

We made it to our rental, brought our pets and luggage inside and just crashed for a bit before we headed out to Wal-Mart to get food and basic supplies to get us through a couple of nights. We were both much less stressed now that we were in Florida.
