35
It is my birthday. I turned 35-years-old. Yikes. I guess that is better than the alternative.
I still don’t even feel like I am a real adult, so it seems crazy. 40 is only 5 years away.
We celebrated my birthday with my family last weekend, along with Easter. We had an Easter lunch and an egg hunt. I got a lawn ornament with owls from my parents and cupcakes from my sister that were designed to look like our pets, Milo, Murray, Charlie & Pepper.
My nephew always cries when people sing the Happy Birthday song. Even when it’s not his birthday. He did it once again while my family sang to me. It’s kinda comical. We hope that he can explain what upsets him so much someday.
On Wednesday, my actual birthday (April 7th), I started my day by doing a treadmill workout. I haven’t been following my NOOM diet very well since Easter. I’m taking the week off from it so I can celebrate my birthday week (yes, WEEK!) with cake and other yummy goodies that I usually stay away from. With all the goodies, I want to do my best to keep up with exercise at least.
After my workout, I got ready for the day and sent Jeff out to visit with his mom. She was at the hospital for over a week due to kidney cancer and some other complications. They got the cancer out and she is doing OK now, just recuperating. She just got home so we figured Jeff should spend some time with her. Once we are fully vaccinated, we can both go and spend some time with his parents.
When Jeff returned, he brought my birthday cake and our favorite donuts, chocolate long johns.
After our donuts, we headed to the Fox River Trail with Charlie. Its not too often that my birthday is a nice day. I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and take a nice long walk. Also, April 7th happens to be National Walking Day.
I wasn’t actually surprised by this. I figured he would choose “It is your birthday” as a reference to The Office. He actually told me he was disappointed when I didn’t have that put on his cake back in July. We were watching a lot of The Office at the time.
For dinner, we ordered takeout from one of our favorite restaurants, Tucson’s. That will also probably be the first place we go to once we are fully vaccinated. We love the places and we have heard good things about their COVID precautions. I want to reward that!
We watched some of our favorite shows (New Amsterdam and This is Us) while we ate dinner and then had some birthday cake. And, now I am writing this blog post.
It’s been a good birthday!
