Easter 2021
Easter in Iola
We celebrated Easter this past Sunday with my family at my parents’ house. We all have at least one vaccination and spent most of our time outside, so we deemed it safe. We don’t always celebrate Easter in our family, since we aren’t religious. We used to do egg hunts and Easter meals as children at my grandparents’ house, but didn’t keep up with that as all of the younger generation grew up.
We started celebrating Easter again now that Stephen exists. The first 2 years, he didn’t get it. Last year, Erica (his mom) says he kinda got it and he loved the doorstep visit from the Easter Bunny due to quarantine.
Easter Eggs
This year, my parents hid a ton of Easter eggs at our farm down the road. Erica and I hid some around my parents’ yard as well. Stephen didn’t really seem very interested in it. We had to point out pretty much every egg to him before he would pick it up. Then he would take the candy out and toss the egg on the ground. Kids…I tell ya.
It would probably be more fun for him if he had other kids to compete with, but oh well. Jeff and I drove him around on my parents’ golf cart to find eggs around the farm to try and make it more entertaining.
Golf Cart
He loves riding on the golf cart. He’s been riding on it practically all his life! It might just be the first vehicle he learns to drive.
April Weather
Once the egg hunting was done, we spent the rest of the day outside. It was a gorgeous day. Perfect weather. We don’t always have great April weather in Wisconsin.
We talked, took more rides on the golf cart, and Stephen played with some toys Grandpa found in his shed at the farm, including a trike and a Fire Engine.
COVID
It was great to see all of my immediate family. We are feeling a little more relaxed now that Jeff and I both got our first doses of the COVID vaccine. The rest of them (minus Stephen) are done with their shots. Just a year ago, my parents just visited me from 6 feet away from my front porch because COVID had just shut everything down. It seems like just yesterday, but also like years ago.
