Kayaking

Father's Day

After 2 cancelations due to weather and my dad not feeling well, I finally got to go out kayaking with my parents. We were supposed to go for Father's Day and there was finally a perfect weather day for it when we were all available.

Wolf River

We met in Shiocton and kayaked down down Wolf River. It was a pretty easy trip, though we did go the wrong way a couple of times.

There were some forks in the river along the way and we thought we were following the current. The current lied to us.

It also didn’t help that the river was really flooded. There were channels that don't usually exist. Most trees were submerged in water. I think if there had been so much flooding, we would have had a bit of an easier time navigating.

The whole trip to just over 2 hours, which was a good amount of time. It was a nice time and good quality time with my parents!

River Rail

We went to River Rail for a late lunch afterward. My parents weren’t super impressed with their meals, but my roasted chicken was good!

The Downside

The main downside to the kayaking was that I didn't adjust the seat before we got on the river and it was leaned really far back. It was my sister's kayak, so I didn't know how to adjust the seat to be more upright.

My back hurt like hell for the first bit of the trip. I had to keep adjusting my position in the kayak in order to be comfortable. But, that’s fairly typical for me, thanks to my lower back scoliosis.
