Christmas 2020
Christmas Eve
We usually celebrate Christmas Eve at my in-law’s house. Due to Covid, there was no Christmas gathering with his family this year. Jeff and I celebrated on our own with gifts, Christmas movies, and takeout from Chili’s.
I got Jeff some T-Shirts of his favorite AEW wrestler, Orange Cassidy, The Office-themed PJ pants and a Threat Level Midnight poster.
He got me the Friends LEGO set, and books that I had asked for. One by Jenna Fischer and one by Rainn Wilson. Both actors from The Office. Can you tell what my two favorite TV shows are?
Christmas Day
After much internal debate, which I wrote about previously, Jeff and I chose to celebrate Christmas in Iola with my family. Just my immediate family.
We had tacos for our meal (super traditional!) and munched on cookies, lefse (a Norweigan tradition!), edible cookie dough from The Dough Shoppe, and cheesecake that my sister had to wait outside of the Cheesecake Factory for over an hour to finally get.
Presents!
We opened presents in a less “formal” way than usual. We usually all gather in the living room and take turns opening gifts. This year, due to my 3-year-old nephew being constantly distracted, we gave them out while we all wandered between the kitchen and living room. I think I prefer it that way, with less attention on me while I open a gift.
Stephen did a lot of wandering around with food in his hand. Charlie spent a lot of his time following Stephen around to try and get crumbs. He got some cheese by doing so.
Inappropriate Ornaments
I got a lot of ornaments as gifts, which is what I asked for. My sister gave me some “inappropriate” ones.
I don’t understand what the one in the middle is supposed to be. It seems that a T-Rex, boobs, and a penis have been combined.
Fur Babies
She also gave me these ornaments/window decorations that she had a friend 3D print. There is one for each of our fur babies: Milo, Murray, Charlie and Pepper.
Video Chat
We did a video chat with my mom’s sisters and most of my cousins. We haven’t actually celebrated Christmas has a whole family in quite a while since we are all doing our own thing. I think we wanted to feel a little closer this year due to the pandemic.
Christmas Photos
Eventually, our family got around to taking some family Christmas photos. We don’t usually take any pictures, but now that my nephew is around, my parents want to have pictures of him growing up. They didn’t care so much when my sister and I were growing up, haha.
As you can see, Stephen was a little bit difficult to get nice pictures with.
It was an overall good Christmas and I am glad we decided to spend it with family.
