Stephen’s 4th Birthday
Four
My nephew Stephen turned 4 years old over the weekend. 4! I don’t know how he can be that old already.
We celebrated his birthday at South Park in Waupaca with our parents, grandparents, Aunt Carrie, Uncle John and our cousins Carl and Andy.
Party
We had Wheelhouse pizza (not my favorite), cupcakes from a place in Milwaukee (delicious), plus salad and cookies.
It was a beautiful day to be outside and enjoy the weather. Lots of people agreed with us. There were quite a few people that picnicked near us.
Tradition
The tradition of Stephen crying when we sang “Happy Birthday” to him. This time, he actually sang it along with us for a bit. While he also cried. By the end of it, he clapped along with the rest of us and was in good spirits quickly thereafter for opening presents.
We all wonder what it is about the song that makes him cry. Hopefully he will explain it to us someday. But, I’m betting he won’t know the reason either once he’s old enough.
Presents
Stephen got all kinds of fun presents, including a scooter from my parents, a bunch of antique Hot Wheels from the Iola Old Car Show from his parents, and Hungry Hungry Hippos, books and activity books from us. He spoiled rotten!
