Walks

Mental Health

It has been unusually warm (over 70!) for the past week! That is unheard of for November in Wisconsin. I have taken advantage of the gorgeous days by taking walks each day.

The weather has been good for my mental health, especially this past week with all of the Election drama. All of the walks I have taken help me clear my head a bit.

On Wednesday, the day after the election, I took Charlie over to Voyageur Park and we walked around all of the pathways. It was so pretty, despite most of the leaves being gone.

On Thursday Charlie and I just did a big loop through our neighborhood. On Friday, I met up with my friend, Deb, from Zumba at Voyageur Park and we walked the Fox River Trail. It was gorgeous! We actually saw a couple of bucks along the trail.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good picture of the buck, but he is there, somewhere.

It was so good to be outside and socializing. I don’t get to do that a whole lot these days with COVID. This was the day before Joe Biden was announced as President Elect, so we talked about our hopes that Biden would win. She was one of the first people I texted when I found out Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won.

When I got home from my walk with Deb, I took Charlie for a quick walk around the neighborhood. I didn’t want him to miss out on the nice weather, My feet were done for the day after that.

Skunk Lake

On Saturday, Charlie and I went to my parents’ house and we all went for a hike at Skunk Lake in Scandinavia.

On this hike, Charlie pooped and I picked it up with a doggie bag, as one does. I carried it with me for awhile and then my dad started complaining about the smell. My parents told me I should just throw it in the woods.

Umm…that’s not nice to litter.

But they kept telling me to throw it in the woods.

So I did.

It hit a tree and landed in some dead tree limbs near the ground.

Then my parents said “Not the bag!”.

Well, that’s why I had been confused….

My dad tried to get it out with a stick, but eventually he gave up and marked the area with a branch so we could get it on the way out (we did).

Neighborhood

On Sunday and Monday, Charlie and I took some nice walks around our neighborhood and our neighboring subdivision.

It is unfortunately raining today, and it doesn’t look like the weather is going to get close to the 70’s again. So, I think our days of long walks may be done for the season.

I am going to try to keep going for walks when the weather is decent. There are a fair amount of trails in the area that I can take Charlie to. We can even just go to different parts of the Fox River Trail.

Deb said she wants to keep meeting up for walks, and possibly even snow-shoeing! We will see about that one…
