Game On! Diet Competition Update

Game On! Diet competition update:

The first week was easier than I thought it would be. To be honest, I was excited to be able to eat right after I woke up. I was intermittent fasting before I started the competition, so I was used to waiting until 1 pm to be able to eat after having quit eating by 9 pm the day before.

Meals

I am loving being able to eat 5 times a day. I haven’t missed a meal, so I’ve gotten the full 30 points for that every day. It’s also a lot easier for me to get the meals in since I have been staying at home and self-quarantining due to the large increase of COVID cases in our area.

Recipes

I tried a few of the recipes in the Game On! Diet book and I will continue to make some of them for the rest of the competition, like Krista’s Quick and Easy Breakfast and and Kate’s Simply Skinny Sausage Supper.

Water

I thought it would be more of a struggle to get 3 liters of water in a day, but it’s actually not that bad. I guess I drink more water in a day than I thought.

I definitely thought I would have to pee a lot more. I only run into that issue when I drink a lot at once to try and catch up for the day. When I spread it out over the course of the day, it’s fine.

Sleep

The sleep points are also easier for me to get because I always go to bed with the intention of get 7+ hours of sleep. Our group agreed that if you are really trying to get the 7+ hours, you get the points whether it actually happens or not.

Exercise

The competition has helped keep me on track with getting some exercise in every day. Sometimes it is just a walk outside with my dog, Charlie. I was going a little harder earlier in the competition, but I still do something every day!

New Habit

I’ve been doing pretty well with my new habit, which is writing something every day. I’ve written a lot more blog posts lately due to this new habit! Some times I just work on my “maybe a book”, it all depends on what I am feeling that day.

Bad/Old Habit

I believe I have only messed up once and done my bad habit. Shopping online for things I don’t need. I obviously have to do SOME shopping online since I don’t go out to the stores for groceries, but I try and stick to necessities.

The one time I messed up, I was scrolling through Facebook or Instagram and ended up looking at some clothing before I realized what I was doing. -10 points for me that day.

Communication

I think I have communicated with members of my own team or the other team every day, so that’s been a fairly easy 5 points daily. It’s usually nice to have everyone rooting for each other.

Body Fat

I was really excited the 1st week because I lost 1% of my body fat (Jeff calculated it for me). That meant I got to add 20% of my total points to my score.

Unfortunately, I think I overindulged on my day off last week, so I didn’t lose the 1% body fat for the second week. I got close! But I was still bummed. I have had Jeff look at the scale for me so that I don’t have to until the competition is over, but he said I have lost 4.4 pounds overall. That’s not bad!

Discouraged

Some ladies on the other team shared that they had lost 7 and 8 pounds.

That made me feel bad and a bit discouraged, until one of them mentioned that she usually drinks a lot of alcohol, so that likely made a huge difference.

Points

We are currently in our 3rd week of the 4 week competition. Our teams are neck and neck. Seriously. The first week, our team won by just 5 points! Our score average was 756.7, and the other team got 751.5 for their average.

For our second week, the other team won by .1 point! I thought for sure after I heard how much the those ladies on the other team had lost that we would have been left in the dust.

Nope, we are still in the game!
